What is gastric bypass? It is a surgery that changes the size and the work of your stomach and intestines. Your stomach will be in the size of an egg after the surgery. Moreover, food will not go through areas that can absorb it and turn it into calories. Gastric bypass is a difficult surgery, and you will have to do certain things after going through it, such as:
- You will have to take multivitamins and supplements for the rest of your life. Remember that most of your food won’t be absorbed and so you will lack the nutrients you need without the supplements.
- You will have to drink two liters of water every day although this can be rally difficult. Your stomach will be small in size and about half a cup of water will fill it each time, so you’ll have to keep a bottle of water close by and drink a sip every now and then.
- You will have to completely avoid sugary or fatty foods. You cannot consume something rich in calories after the operation. Also, these types of food can cause vomiting and abdominal pain.
- You will have to drink an hour at least before and after the meal. You cannot fill your stomach with water as it will be small in size and you will be needing all of your meal with its nutrients.
- You have to realize that this surgery won’t fix a lot of things in your life. If you used to have problems at work, with your partner or in the way you communicate with others, don’t expect the surgery to fix them
