According to the American Cancer Society (ACS) lung cancer makes up 13 percent of all cancers types , it’s extremely widespread with smoking as a leading cause .the symptoms of lung cancer don’t appear clearly except in advanced stages where they occur as follows ; coughing up blood ,chest pain and recurring chest infections .Lung cancer appears as cancer cells invade and destroy lung tissues and cells .

According to the American Lung Association, the lung cancer has the lowest surviving rate among all cancer types, most patients cannot survive after one year of diagnosis.

Different types of cancer has different types of treatment
If the Cancer spread in lungs and only one other body organ can be treated by surgery or radiation .on the other hand , if the cancer has spread to different areas of the body including the lungs ,the tumors must be tested to determine the type of treatment .

Tumors are tested for their genes and for the PD-L1 protein. Tumors with more levels of PD-L1 will respond easily to immunotherapy medications .chemotherapy is another option if the person is healthy enough to endure it ,for example there is no blood in the coughing . if there are fluids accumulated in the lungs , certain medications can be prescribed to release them moreover there is a procedure called pleurodesis where a catheter is inserted into the chest to let the fluid drain out.

Some people suffer from reoccurring cancer ,the treatment is determined according to the areas affected . a doctor must explain to you why is this treatment being prescribed , is it to prevent further growth of tumors or to relieve pain and symptoms only.

In this case targeted medications and radiation therapy or combination chemo will be advised by your doctor . However if the reoccurring cancer is small in size and limited in areas , it can be removed by surgery or immunotherapy as mentioned by American Cancer Society .
