These little creepy pests called fleas are a nightmare for every pet owner. These wingless creatures remain hidden in your lawn and badly affect the health of your pet. There are several products available to get rid of fleas, but these products contain chemicals that may harm the skin of your puppies and cat. So, you should try some herbal homemade remedies to do away with fleas. Here are some effective home remedies for fleas with which you can not only kill the fleas but can also control their recurrence.

1. Rosemary: Using rosemary is a very effective way to control flea problem in your home. Boil water and add fresh rosemary in it. Let it boil for about 30 minutes. Then, wait till it reaches a lukewarm level. Now, add more water depending on your pet’s size. The rosemary water works great when applied in a lukewarm state. Soak your pet in this water and let your pet dry naturally.

2. Boric Acid: Boric acid acts as a desiccant or a dehydrating agent which causes severe dehydration in fleas due to which they are killed. You need to sprinkle boric acid wherever you doubt there may be fleas, their larvae or eggs.

3. Flea Spray: Instead of buying a commercial flea spray that may contain chemicals, you can make your own herbal flea spray with natural ingredients. Take one cup of apple cedar vinegar and mix it with one-quart fresh water. Now add 2-3 drops of cedar or lavender oil. Fill this mixture in a spray bottle and shake it well. Spray this solution on your pet’s hair.

4. Lavender: Buy some lavender and add it in boiling water. Keep it overnight. Now strain the lavender water and fill this mixture in a spray bottle. Take a flea’s comb. Spray this lavender mixture on your pet’s hair and comb gently. Lavender will kill all the fleas and leave a really pleasant smell. Brush out all the dead fleas and throw them away.

5. Salt: Salt can get you rid of tough fleas, especially from your carpets. Salt becomes a dehydration agent for fleas and dries out their bodies. Fill up your spice bottle with fine salt powder leaving a little room on the top so that you can shake and sprinkle the salt from it. Sprinkle the salt over your carpets in each room. The salt should cover the area evenly. Leave for 12 to 48 hours. After 1-2 days, vacuum thoroughly.

Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection that affects the upper layer of the skin of the foot. It causes itching, scaling, and sometimes blisters on the affected areas. It usually thrives in warm, damp places. The fungus, Tinea pedis, grows between the toes, on top of the feet, on toenails and between the fingers. White patches, scaly patches, redness, cracking and peeling of the skin on the feet and between the toes are all indicative of the fungus.

Once you notice any of these symptoms you can easily try some simple home remedies to get rid of athlete’s foot before the condition gets worse. Here are some natural remedies which can help with athlete’s foot.

1. Baking Soda: Baking soda neutralizes the pH level of the skin, helps remove moisture from the feet, relieves the itch, helps absorb odor and also eases the burn between your toes. Make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste on the affected area of your foot. Let it set for 15 minutes, and then wash off with normal or lukewarm water. Repeat daily for several weeks to prevent the fungus from spreading.

2. Olive Oil: Using ozonated olive oil can also help with Athlete’s Foot. Use the paste to swab your clean, dry feet each morning and night. This should clear up the fungus within about two to four days and can be used as a preventative measure against future outbreaks. Alternatively, you can grind a few olive leaves into a paste. Dab some cotton balls in it, and apply the mixture on the affected area. Cover the area with a piece of soft cloth. Leave it on for half an hour. Wash off with normal to lukewarm water. Pat dry thoroughly.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar: Using apple cider vinegar on the affected area is a helpful remedy for athlete’s foot. Mix 1 cup of apple cider vinegar with 2 quarts water. Soak your foot in this solution for 20-30 minutes. Or, make a solution of 1 cup vinegar with 1 cup water, and apply it directly to the affected areas with a cotton ball.

4. Tea Tree oil: Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with olive oil and apply it on the infected area. Olive oil tenderizes the skin and helps tea tree oil to get absorbed better. Tea tree oil can also be mixed with aloe vera gel to treat athlete’s foot.

Pneumonia is a common respiratory disease characterized by inflammation of the tissue in one or both the due to a bacterial, viral or fungal infection. If you have pneumonia, you may experience symptoms like cough, fever, shaking chills, chest pain, and shortness of breath. In most cases, it occurs as a mild condition and clears up in two to three weeks. However, it can become very serious and may even prove fatal. The treatment for this condition usually depends on the type of pneumonia you have and the severity of symptoms. It is always advisable to seek medical advice, but if the symptoms are not severe, you can try some of the following home remedies.

1. Cayenne Pepper: Cayenne pepper helps the body release mucus from the respiratory tract, which helps clear the mucus from the respiratory system. Fill a jug with 250ml of water, add 1 tsp of lemon juice and sprinkle a little cayenne pepper. Drink the water, at least, 4 to 5 times every day.

2. Garlic: Garlic is a natural remedy for pneumonia in adults since it has anti-bacteria and antiviral properties. It helps bring down the body temperature as well as clears the phlegm from the chest and lungs. Mix one cup of milk in four cups of water and add one-half teaspoon of crushed garlic to it. Boil the solution until it reduces to one-fourth of the original amount. Drink it three times a day.

3. Fenugreek: Fenugreek helps remove toxins from the body through perspiration. It also helps clear any congestion in the chest. Make fenugreek tea by boiling one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in two cups of water. Strain and drink four cups of fenugreek tea a day. Reduce the amount you drink as you feel better.

4. Potassium Broth: Potassium is beneficial for people suffering from pneumonia. It repairs the lung tissues. Make a healthy broth by mixing and boiling garlic, radish, carrots, celery, parsley, and water. Strain it. Take this mixture on a daily basis. You should avoid this remedy if you suffer from heart ailments since too much potassium can be harmful to your health.

5. Steam Inhalation: Steam helps fight infection and improves breathing by relieving coughing and congestion. Boil water in a pot and add a few drops of essential oils such as eucalyptus, lavender, tea tree, lemon, or camphor oil. Inhale the steam from this solution. While inhaling, cover your head with a towel so that the steam does not escape.

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental health problems. Anxiety is a normal response to stress or a dangerous situation, but when it is constant or in reaction to inappropriate circumstances it becomes problematic. Constant anxiety can lead to high blood pressure, insomnia, digestive problems and panic attacks. Fortunately, there are many natural and simple remedies for anxiety.

1. Consider Consuming Chamomile: Chamomile can be an effective natural way to help calm you down. Chamomile contains apigenin and luteolin, two compounds that promote relaxation. In one study at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, in Philadelphia, patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) who took chamomile supplements for eight weeks had a significant decrease in anxiety symptoms compared to patients taking a placebo.

2. Cut down Caffeine: Too much caffeine can cause more anxiety because it boosts your energy and makes you anxious. Start by limiting coffee or black tea to one cup per day, and see if you there is any decrease in your anxiety symptoms.

3. Eat Omega-3 fatty acids: Some studies say that omega-3 fatty acids can ease anxiety symptoms and enhance your mood by lowering levels of stress chemicals such as adrenaline and cortisol in the body. In one study, students who took 2.5 milligrams a day of mixed omega-3 fatty acids for 12 weeks had less anxiety before an exam than students taking a placebo. There are many good sources of omega-3 fatty acids such as tuna, salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds.

4. Breath in Lavender: The intoxicating (but safe) aroma of lavender may be an “emotional” anti-inflammatory. One study found that people who received a massage with lavender oil were more upbeat and had less anxiety than people who had a lavender-free massage. According to another study, Greek dental patients were less anxious if the waiting room was scented with lavender oil. Another found lavender massage can even lower systolic pressure the top blood pressure number that’s associated with stress. Try putting a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow or in your bath, or add a few drops to a cup of boiling water and inhale for a quick calm-me-down.

5. Take L-lysine: L-lysine is an amino acid and one of the building blocks of your brain’s chemical messengers called neurotransmitters. Studies have shown that people taking L-lysine supplements had reduced symptoms of anxiety and reduced levels of stress hormones. L-lysine is commonly found in meat, fish, and beans, and is also sold as an oral supplement.

Winter is one of the most awaited seasons of the year as it brings many pleasurable experiences. But the thing that makes some people don’t like winter is the dryness of the face, hands, and feet that happen during winter. The skin tends to become drier due to the drop in the temperature and also humidity. This causes the skin to become dehydrated, leading to dry skin patches as well as irritation or itchiness. Fortunately, there are many natural ingredients that can help you to overcome this problem.

1. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is one of the most effective home remedies for dry skin in winter. It contains ample amounts of fatty acids that can compensate for any loss of moisture from the skin. It is also rich in proteins and vitamin E that help retain moisture in your skin.

• Warm up some coconut oil in a microwave for a few seconds and apply it on your skin before bathing. Massage it gently so that the oil penetrates into the skin. Wait 10 minutes, then take a bath or shower. Repeat this remedy once daily.

2. Honey: Honey is one of the most well known natural treatments for dry skin. It has a high content of antioxidant, antimicrobial, and humectant properties that help lock in moisture to make your skin extra soft and smooth.

• Before taking a bath or shower, rub some raw honey all over your body and massage gently using circular motions. Leave it on your skin for 10 minutes, then take a bath or shower.

• Another remedy is to mix equal amounts of honey and glycerin. Apply it on your hands, wait 10 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

This problem occurs when melanocytes around the hair follicle reduce the amount of melanin it produces. This can happen due to many factors like a genetic predisposition, poor nutrition, hormonal fluctuations, smoking, pollution, stress, use of unsuitable hair products, and certain diseases such as chronic colds, sinusitis, and thyroid disorders. People always tend to cover those gray strands with commercial and chemical-laden hair colors, but some natural home remedies can do the trick.
Here are the top 4 home remedies for premature graying of hair.

1. Black Tea: Black tea works best with prematurely gray hair as it helps darken your hair, as well as soften it and add shine.
– Boil two teaspoons of black tea in a cup of water. Add a teaspoon of salt and allow it to cool.
– Rinse your hair with this a few times. The last time, let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.
– Wash your hair with cold water but do not use shampoo.
– Repeat the process once or twice a week.

2. Henna: Henna works as a wonderful natural hair colorant. Besides making your hair darker, it will strengthen and condition your lustrous locks.
– Grind a handful of henna leaves into a paste. Add three teaspoons of Indian gooseberry powder, one teaspoon of coffee powder, and a little plain yogurt. Spread it evenly on your hair. After it dries, rinse it out and then shampoo your hair as usual. Repeat the process once every two to four weeks.

3. Coconut Oil and Lemon Juice: Coconut oil works wonders for your hair. It moisturizes hair, stimulates hair growth, fights infections, and adds luster to your hair. When used for a prolonged time, it also helps reverse gray hair because it is packed with antioxidants.
– Mix the coconut oil with the fresh lemon juice.
– Gently massage it into your scalp, then comb it through the entire length of your hair.
– Leave it for an hour.
– Wash it out with mild shampoo or soap.

4. Black Molasses: Blackstrap molasses is a common and effective home remedy to prevent and reduce the problem of gray hair. It is rich in copper, which helps with the production of hair pigment. Eat a tablespoon of it every morning for at least a few months to see positive results.

Acne is a common skin problem that plagues millions of people of all ages. There are many factors that cause acne such as sleep deprivation, too much stress, and unhealthy eating habits. It is common for teenagers to suffer from acne which happens because of the increased hormone levels in their body. From mild to severe, cases of acne cause painful and unsightly outbreaks on the face, back, chest and even arms. When it left untreated it can lead to diminished self-esteem and scarring. The good news is that there are many easy and natural cures which can help you get rid of acne or at least minimize the problem.

Here Are Top 4 Home Remedies For Acne:

1. Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is a popular natural treatment for acne due to its natural inflammation-fighting properties. It acts as an antiseptic and disinfects the pores. Also, it helps kill the bacteria that cause acne.

• Apply one drop of tea tree oil on the affected area three times a day.
• Alternatively, mix a few drops of tea tree oil with between 20 and 40 drops of witch hazel, then apply the mixture on your skin using a cotton swab. Do this remedy once or twice a day.

2. Honey: Honey can help remove acne because it contains antibiotic properties.

• Apply a teaspoon of honey to affected areas.
• Or you can make a mask by mixing ½ cup of honey with 1 cup of plain oatmeal and leaving it on for 30 minutes.

3. Lemon Juice: Lemon juice can be effective in treating acne because of its citric acid property. Lemon will clean out dirt that has accumulated in the pores and will harden the sebum. Moreover, it is an astringent which will cause a contraction of body tissues and will, therefore, dry out blemish itself.

• Rub a slice of lemon on the affected area and leave it for a few hours before rinsing your face with water. You can use it on your skin daily but if it is too dry then use it every two or three days.
• Or mix equal amounts of lemon juice and rose water and wash the affected area with this mixture.

4. Mint: Mint contains menthol, which works as a natural anti-inflammatory and pain killer. It can help the redness fade and ease up the discomfort caused by painful swelling. It can also help remove pore-clogging oil.

• Mix 2 tablespoons of finely chopped mint with two tablespoons each of plain yogurt and oatmeal.
• Leave the mixture on your face for 10 minutes, then rinse off with water.

Having a shining set of teeth can make anyone looks more attractive. Your teeth are one of the first things people notice and having white teeth can create an impression that you are a person who cares about himself. Teeth discoloration can be a result of drinking coffee and tea or smoking and it also is a part of the aging process. Fortunately, there are a number of teeth whitening home remedies that can help you have a whitened smile.

Baking Soda:
Baking soda is one of the most popular agents that can naturally whiten your teeth. It will help remove plaque and make your teeth look whiter.

• Mix a little bit of baking soda with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon. Using a cotton swab, wipe saliva and excess plaque from your teeth before brushing on the mixture. Leave the mixture on your teeth for a minute before gently brushing it off with a toothbrush.

• Or, you can mix a small amount of hydrogen peroxide with a small amount of baking soda to make a paste and brush your teeth as usual. Make sure that you have enough hydrogen peroxide mixed in with the soda. The paste should not be gritty at all, it should be a runnier paste.
Strawberries: Strawberries can help whiten teeth because they contain an enzyme called malic acid and vitamin C. Strawberries also have astringent which helps to remove surface stains and vitamin C washes away plaque.

• Mash few strawberries and rub the mixture on your teeth gently. Do this remedy once or twice a week for the best results.
Orange Peel: Cleaning your teeth with orange peel regularly can reduce the yellow tinge accumulated on your teeth.

• Rub orange peel over your teeth every night before sleeping. The vitamin C and calcium in the orange peel will combat the microorganisms throughout the night.

• Repeat this for a few weeks and you will get good results.
Oil Pulling: This is an Indian remedy used primarily to enhance oral health and cleanse the body. And many people praise the result of this remedy in terms of whitening their teeth.

• Take one tablespoon of pure, organic oil and swish it between your teeth for 15-20 minutes. Move the oil around your mouth through sipping, sucking, and essentially pulling through your teeth. After rinsing, spit out the oil, thoroughly rinse your mouth out with water, and consume 2-3 glasses of water.

Your skin is a very tender and sensitive part of your body and you should be so careful when you deal with it especially when it comes to using some products like hair removal creams, these products as you know can cause irritation or allergic reactions, so what about using some natural hair removal remedies? You want to know how? The answer is in your kitchen, so let’s start searching.

Search for some turmeric in your kitchen then make this mix, mix two table spoons of turmeric with water or milk until they become a thick paste and then apply it on the area where you want to remove the hair from, leave this mix for about 15 to 20 minutes until you feel that the mix is dried up, then you can wash your skin with warm water. This mix is perfect for thin or fine hair, but if you want to remove thick hair you will need to add some yogurt or rice flour to the mix.

Looking for natural wax, this one is the answer, mix one table spoon of sugar, honey and lemon, put the mix in a metal bowl or a pan then heat it in double boiler to prevent burning it, dissolve the mix until it looks like wax paste. If the mix looked thick, you can reduce the thickness by adding some water and if it looked thin add some cornstarch to make it thicker. Now, Let the mix cool down and then apply it on your skin in the direction of the hair using a wooden spoon or hair removing spatula, wait until it harden and then rip it off, you can use cotton strips like the one you use with wax to remove it.

Prepare an egg, half table spoon of cornstarch and one tablespoon of sugar, bring a bowl, crack the egg and mix the egg white with the other ingredient I mentioned, make sure the mix becomes a thick and smooth paste and then apply it on the area where you want to remove the hair from, wait for about 20 to 25 minutes and then peel the mix off.

This one is very popular, you will need white pepper, camphor and almond oil, grind the white pepper until it becomes fine powder, mix the white pepper powder with the camphor and make sure to add equal part of each, now add some drops of almond oil to the mix, apply this mix on your skin and leave it for about 15 to 20 minutes and then you can wash it off.

The amounts of each ingredient will be up to you, for example if you want bigger amounts you can increase the number of the spoons or the amounts that you use to make the mix. One more thing, if you have any concerns or worries, try any of the mixes on small part of your skin first to grantee your safety.

Large pores can look unsightly, making you feel embarrassed from your skin. They also make people more likely to get acne and blackheads, especially for ones who have greasy skin. Let’s know about factors that enlarge pores on the face and what can we do to treat this flaw.

Exposure to the sun for long periods of time can cause enlarged open pores. Excess sebum production is also a main reason. This excess oil mixes with dead skin cells in a pore to form a clog, the thing that makes it difficult for the oil to flow freely and causes the pore itself to widen to offer extra space for the oil to flow out.

Here are some solutions to minimize enlarged pores using natural remedies:

1- Yogurt Mask
The lactic acid in yogurt can stop excess oil production, dissolve impurities in pores and tighten them. Apply some fresh yogurt, neither sweetened nor flavored, for only 10 minutes then rinse your face with cool water.

2- Tomato Lotion
Tomatoes are widely known for their outstanding antioxidant content and lycopene. These properties help to tighten skin and minimize large open skin pores. Mix one tablespoon of fresh tomato juice with 3-4 drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply this lotion on your face for about 15 minutes then rinse it off with cool water. This lotion is also considered a powerful cleanser for skin.

3- Egg Whites Mask
Egg whites are also widely used to shrink enlarged pores because they tone and tighten the skin. Whisk two egg whites with juice of half a lemon. Spread it on your face using your fingertips and leave it on until it dries completely then rinse it off with cool water. Repeat this remedy two times a week for 1 month.
Do not forget to apply any remedy to clean, washed skin.

Athlete’s foot is a highly contagious skin infection that happens to your feet. It is caused by a fungus that can infect you upon skin contact. It happens at places such as gyms, spas, fitness clubs, locker rooms and shower rooms. It looks like this rough scaly patch on your foot, around your toenails or between your toes.

It causes the release of an awful odor those around you can smell which could be very embarrassing. If the disease is left untreated for a while it can cause itchiness and other symptoms. You’re lucky, however, that you can treat it with simple natural treatments such as:

1- Garlic. Garlic is a natural potent antifungal and antiviral. For treating athlete’s foot with garlic, crush a few garlic cloves and rub your infected areas with it. Wrap your foot with a plastic wrapping and put a sock on. Remove the day after and repeat the whole process few days in a row.

2- Drying agents. Dampness is one of the major reasons for the development of athlete’s foot. Therefore, you need to make sure that your feet are dry all the time. Do not wear socks made of synthetic materials. Wear cotton socks that absorb moisture and let your feet breathe. Moreover, sprinkle some talc powder, baking soda or even corn starch inside your socks.

3- Disinfect your feet daily. Give your feet a bath by soaking them in a bowl of water to which you add natural disinfectants such as tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, pink Himalayan salt, apple cider vinegar or some rubbing alcohol (I can’t say that rubbing alcohol is natural, but it is definitely available and easy to find).

4- Herbal tea soaks are another way of treating your feet of athlete’s feet. Boil black tea, green tea, red tea, chamomile, sage mint or rose tea and add the boiled extract to a bowl of water and use it for soaking your feet for 10 minutes.

5- Treat your athlete’s foot with ozonated olive oil. It is regular olive oil in which oxygen was infused giving it a consistency similar to that of a gel. Dry your feet well before rubbing ozonated olive oil to prevent the athlete’s feet fungus from developing killing it in the process.
