Hormones are the chemicals that carry messages to our body organs .Various vital processes are dependent on the secretion of these hormones, and their concentration.. but can these hormones make you lose or gain weight ? read the following article to find out


Estrogens:

These hormones are found in the female ovaries but they are also found in the male body in very small amounts . In females they play an important role in ovulation, menstrual cycles and development of secondary sexual characters; whereas in males they are essential for sperm maturation and viability. these hormones can cause weight gain if they are not released properly into the body as they disrupt the metabolism

Progesterone:

Its called the pregnancy hormone as they are produced during pregnancy. It is also found in small amounts in males by the adrenal gland,. If your body has a low level of progesterone you are most likely to gain weight easily.

Testosterone:
This hormone is responsible for the building of muscles , if its not secreted in the right amounts it can slow down the metabolism and cause obesity This hormone is synthesized in the testes and ovaries as well as in the adrenal cortex.

Insulin:
This hormone is produced by the pancreas, and plays the most important role in carbohydrate and fat metabolism. If any Disruption happens the cells will store more fat causing weight gain

Cortisol:

Cortisol plays a very vital role in controlling the blood pressure and metabolism rate .The concentration is at its peak in the early morning and is at its lowest at night..if a person is under stress secretion of cortisol increases which leads to weight gain. Excess fat accumulates around the abdomen, which puts a person in high risk of heart attack and strokes.

Thyroid hormones:

These are a very important set of hormones when it comes to metabolsim, T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). Lowered thyroid function (hypothyroidism) is associated with low TSH levels and leads to decreased levels of T3 and T4. This leads to, fatigue, hypertension and weight gain.

Regular medical checkups will help you determine whether any of these glands or hormones are not of a normal level .you also need to make sure that you maintain a healthy lifestyle while exercising , eating less fat and sugar .if you notice a sudden weight gain you might need to pay a visit to the doctor as soon as you can
