People believe many myths and misconceptions about almost everything in life, much less the flu. Flu is one of the most common viruses people can catch, and under certain circumstances (such as poor health, weakened immunity…etc.) people can be hospitalized or even die after catching the flu. Knowing the truth about the following misconceptions will make you less prone to this virus.
Misconception 1: There is no remedy for the flu.
Truth: Flu vaccines are very useful and efficient as a remedy for influenza. Because of the different viral severity every year, the flu vaccines are only 60% to 90% effective. This severity can be changing. If you get the flu after the flu vaccines that means the vaccine was not able to finish making enough antibodies to fight the virus in the amount of time available. Misconception 2: Antibiotics get rid the body of the flu. Many people seem to believe this myth.
Truth : Antibiotics do not eliminate the viruses from the body ,but OTC , acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin all of them may help you to be in a good health and reduce the fatigue.
Misconception 3: Bell’s palsy is a sign of the flu shot.
Truth: Bell’s palsy is a sign of paralysis that appears on the face. It means weakens or powerlessness. It comes from viral infections. Some people think that developing Bell’s palsy comes from the flu vaccine. But in reality, that there is not any connection between them.
Misconception 4: One of the Alzheimer’s causes is flu shots.
Truth: Flu shots are an effective treatment for people who have the flu. So it is not a cause sickness or bad health symptoms. The causes of all mind diseases are unknown until now. There is no link between memory problems and flu shots. The most susceptible people to the flu are the elderly people. The Misconception connected flu with Alzheimer’s because older people are needed to take a flu shot every year. So that some people think about the flu shots as the root their problem.
In the end we deduce that the flu comes at least once a year. We should help people to know the truth about these myths or expose and show them the mistakes in their thinking.
