If you are a parent, let me ask you a question: what is good parenting in your opinion? Is it providing a big house, expensive clothes, hearty meals and expensive schools for your kids? Is it letting them do whatever they please unless it gets them in trouble with the law?
Is it getting them to do what they are told, nothing more and nothing less? We can’t answer exactly how to make sure your kids are raised correctly. But, we can give some tips to make sure they don’t turn bad.
1- Be there for your kids. Like Kate Chopin said in her story, regret, “little children are not little pigs”. You don’t toss money around and say “what more do they need?” and do not leave your parenting duty to your spouse. Make time for your kids or don’t have kids.
2- Make sure that your partner is good enough to parent kids. I think that now that you have grown up enough to have kids, you already know that life is not built up on love alone. So, party girls, slobs or girls who enjoy – for lack of politer term – experimenting with their sexuality are not “mommy” material.
3- Take control of everything with a screen. Don’t just give your child a smart phone and justify it with wanting to check on them when they go out. Do not leave your kids staring at the screen for hours. Do not let them stay glued to their desktop PCs and labtops. If you cannot control how long your kids use these things, don’t buy them.
4- Check those whom your kids befriend. Not checking your kids’ friends is like growing a wonderful tree until it becomes big and beautiful and then burning it to the ground.
