Potatoes are one of the most popular food ingredients around the world. They are a starchy vegetable that can be cooked in various ways. You can fry them, bake them, boil them, sauté them and add them to any type of dish. However, there are many uses for potatoes besides being a versatile food ingredient, such as:
1- A natural cold compress. Potatoes can be a cold compress as effective and way cheaper than any cold compress you buy from any pharmacy. Keep potato slices in your freezer and get them out whenever you want to ease pains, burns, bruises…etc.
2- Whiten dark eye circles and get rid of bags and puffiness under your eyes. Most women resort to concealers when they want to treat or mask dark eye circles which can worsen the problem on the long run. However, using chilled potato slices will rid you of dark circles and bags and will gradually whiten that area.
3- Fix a lumpy béchamel sauce. Béchamel sauce is an essential ingredient in making gratin dishes. However it needs butter and a lot of milk, and it is difficult to make. It is such a waste when you find that it has lumps in it because the flour didn’t dissolve well in the milk. Fix this by turning the béchamel with a fork to witch you stick a piece of raw potato.
4- Not many people know about potato juice. Probably, because the idea of drinking the juice of raw potatoes is disgusting. However, potato juice is a very effective detoxing ailment-curing drink.
5- Did you know that you can use potatoes as a topical treatment to cure headache? And yes, topical treatments can cure headaches. Just rub a potato slice on your temples and your headache will be gone a few minutes afterwards.
