When you apply a weight loss diet, you need to give up all sorts of unhealthy fattening foods. Usually the motto of weight loss diets is “eat healthy and don’t starve yourself. However, contrary to what most people think, some healthy foods are fattening and may ruin your efforts at losing weight. In this article, we will shed light on some of the healthy foods you should avoid while dieting.
- Nuts. It is true that nuts can be considered a super food due to the great amounts of nutrients they contain (such as omega-3 fatty acids, protein, selenium, fiber and vitamin E) but they have a great number of calories as well.
- Coffee. Yes, coffee is a healthy weight loss boosting drink….If it is drunk alone that is. However, people never drink coffee alone. They always add cream, sugar, flavorings and many other additives that shoot both your blood sugar and your calorie intake through the roof.
- Trial mix. These things are heaven sent and healthy too… that is if you do not take their calorie content into consideration. They don’t just have nuts that are already rich in calories, but they have them coated in sugar or honey. These trial mixes also have other rich in calorie ingredients such as chocolates and seeds. Make your own trial mix at home and make sure it is low in calories.
- Sandwich wraps. Well, they are filling and healthy. But, they are rich in calories as well. They are also rich in other harmful things such as chemical preservatives and sodium. Inspect the ingredients of your sandwich wraps carefully and make sure they are low in calories and are whole grain.
- Dark chocolate. Just because chocolates were found to be healthy and rich in antioxidants doesn’t mean you can snack on a whole bar while trying to lose weight! Only take 10 – 20 grams of dark chocolate to subdue cravings.
- Ice tea. Tea, especially green tea, is a healthy weight loss boosting drink. However, ice tea you buy is usually packed with sugar and fattening flavors. If you want to boost weight loss with ice tea, make the ice tea yourself and control the sugar you add to it.
