The guidelines or the instructions always help us to do things right, it’s like a map to the right destination. The food pyramid is something like that; it’s the map to a better and healthier life, it gives you the guidelines that you should follow to enjoy the healthy life that you look for.
The food pyramid consists of food groups, each group consists of the nutrition elements that you should eat daily, you can say theses groups are like great steps forward healthier life. These nutrition elements have a great job of supplying your body with all the vitamins, minerals, power and energy that you need to win the prize and for sure I mean the perfect health.
Some people think that the food pyramid is about how to lose more weight, but that is not entirely true. Food pyramid is more about the right diet that you should follow to have a better health, but this could lead somehow to some weight loss since the weight loss always starts form following a good diet.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the food pyramid and let’s find out more about theses nutrition elements that your body needs. The first group of the food pyramid recommends eating grains, cereals and starch, about six ounces daily and you are free to choose what you prefer like white rice, pasta, bread slice, cereals, etc.
The next group is the colorful group and for sure am talking about the fruits and vegetables, you are free to choose the kinds you prefer, you just should make sure to have 5 serving of fresh vegetables and fruits daily and it would be better if you change the kinds everyday.
The next group is about diary products and you know that having diary products is so important to get enough calcium which has many benefits like helping in bones structure, the food pyramid says you should take about 2 serving of dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, etc, just make sure to choose low or no fat diary products as a healthier option.
Let’s move to another group which contains meat and legumes, you should have about five and half ounces of meat daily and it would be better to choose lean meats. This group isn’t only about meat as a protein source, but it includes egg, nuts, fish, beans and all the other foods that are considered as a great source of protein.
Don’t worry the food pyramid didn’t forget about the sugary stuff, but it allows only small amount of it and it would be better to eat them occasionally and you should follow the same rules when it comes to fats and oils.
