Gardening is a wonderful hobby. It is relaxing, satisfying and stress freeing. There is no greater joy compared to the one you get when you tend to your flowers, fruits and vegetables and watch them grow. However, some things can ruin your pleasure with this hobby.
One of them are garden pests and problems. There are bugs, fungi and many other problems that can damage your plants. You can treat these problems with some natural remedies you can find at home without resorting to expensive ecosystem-damaging chemicals. Here are some of these remedies.
1- Fungal infections can destroy your flowers and plants, and are especially harmful when planting potatoes or tomatoes. Make a mixture of a gallon of water with a spoonful of baking soda and a spoonful of mineral oil and spray your growing plants with it to prevent the fungal infection.
2- If you are living in the countryside, then it is possible that there are rabbits where you live that can eat the vegetables and flowers you grow. From time to time, Sprinkle chili powder around the base of your plants and vegetables. Also, don’t forget to re-sprinkle chili powder after it rains because the rain might wash off the chili powder you have sprinkled before.
3- Soda beverages can rid you of snails and ants that can destroy your vegetables easily and quickly. Dig a small hole and put in it a bowl filled with carbonated beverages. The acidity in these drinks kills the pests while the sugary smell will draw them out.
4- Anyone who is into gardening knows that salt is an extremely effective slug killer. Protect your flowers and vegetables from slugs by sprinkling salt on your garden bed.
