In this article I will talk about period. Yep, the menstruation period that people don’t mention explicitly and treat with shame and disgust as if it were something freaky and unnatural. I don’t know why a natural function – no, a blessing and a privilege – of a woman’s body has to be treated like that. Therefore, against all those people who don’t like it, I will state some weird facts about the menstrual period in this article.
- Science has failed repeatedly in getting to the bottom of why women synchronize with each other and thus have their periods at the same time. I thought it was just me, but apparently many women say that when they spend a significant time together, their periods synchronize. It was said before that this happens because a woman’s body emits airborne substances that encourage other females around her to start their periods at the same time, but it seems that this isn’t the case and that the reason behind this phenomenon is still a mystery.
- Throughout your life, your period will cost you about 20000 dollars. Yep, the ability to bear children can cause this much at minimal. This is the cost of tampons, new underwear, and painkillers and herbal teas bought especially for the pain that comes with a period.
- Although you feel like you are losing a gallon of blood like avictim of some big accident, you only lose about a cup of blood. You hate it when your period hits you unknowingly causing embarrassing accidents that make you feel drenched. But you don’t lose that much blood in reality.
- And even though you don’t lose that much blood, you can get anemic because of it. If you do have a tendency or some dysfunction that can cause anemia, you only need something like your period to trigger it.
- You use 10000 tampons in a lifetime. It is not surprising really. Using five or six tampons a day when it isn’t even a heavy flow 4 – 9 days a month starting from when you are 9 until you are 60? Yeah, you might even need more than 10000 tampons.
- Some cultures believe women who are having their periods are filthy. I will not state names, but some cultures treat women who have a period as if they have the plague. They avoid them, don’t talk to them, don’t eat with them and even command them to eat certain foods. However, most men are generally disgusted and embarrassed of women in their periods.
