In a previous article, we discussed the types of cosmetic tattoos. We learned that there are four different types of cosmetic tattoos nowadays namely the 3d brow tattoo, the eyeliner tattoo, the lip tattoo and the blush contour tattoo. In this article we will discuss the dos and don’ts of cosmetic tattooing.
1. Background check
It is important to be quite the detective when it comes to undergoing any procedure. Thus, check the credentials of the tattoo artist you are about to deal with thoroughly. Do not be shy or afraid to interview a former client of the tattooist. Make sure to know how it went for them and if they suffered any complications. Also, try to see before and after pictures to set your expectations right.
2. Know more about the procedure
It is almost never right to undergo a procedure that you know nothing about. Learning more about your procedure will help you define what you should expect out of it, when the changes will be concrete and what you should do in all before, while in and after the procedure. It is also important to not become frustrated after the procedure with the result as the applied permanent make-up will be dark and shiny. It will take three weeks for the colour to turn to its permanent shade so there is no need to worry as it is perfectly normal.
3. Ensure your safety
Make sure to go to a licensed aesthestician who knows what he is doing and have done it before. Also, make sure that all the tools the tattoo artist is using is sterile to avoid getting any infections. It is important as well to know if you have any kind of allergic reaction to the pigment that will be used during the procedure. Do so by getting a patch test on your skin to make sure.
4. What you should do after
To reduce the swelling around the area where the cosmetic procedure was applied, use a cold compress. An antibiotic ointment will be provided to you to prevent any infections as well. Also, make sure to apply sunscreen for several weeks after the procedure to block UVA and UVB rays as it is hazardous to expose your newly tattooed skin to the sun.
Make sure to follow the aforementioned tips to enjoy a successful cosmetic tattoo that stays for a long time.
